Apuraha mahdollistaa Helsingin Paperipaja ry:n toiminnan sekä Kuitulaboratorio projektin kehittämisen.
Helsingin Paperipajan Kuitulaboratorio on uusi paperitaiteen avaus. Kuitulaboratorio-hankkeen tarkoituksena on lisätä tietoisuutta materiaalien alkuperästä ja niiden monimuotoisista käyttömahdollisuuksista korkealaatuisen nykytaiteen tekemisessä.
Mielenkiinto paperintekomenetelmiä kohtaan on nousussa ja ekologiset tekemisen tavat kiinnostavat yhä useampaa taiteilijaa. Tähän kasvavaan kysyntään ja mielenkiintoon Helsingin Paperipajan Kuitulaboratorio haluaa vastata. Haluamme lisäksi alati digitalisoituvassa maailmassa tutkia paperin uusia merkityksiä ja käyttötarkoituksia myös vaihtoehtoisia prosesseja hyödyntäen. Hanke koostuu näyttelyistä, asiantuntijaprojekteista, yhdistyksen toiminnan kehittämisprojektista sekä online-arkiston luomisesta.

With the help of the awarded grant Helsingin Paperipaja ry will be able to develop the association and Kuitulaboratorio (Fibre Laboratory) project.
Helsingin Paperipaja’s Kuitulaboratorio (Fiber Laboratory) is a new opening in the field of paper art. One of the main ambitions of the project is to increase understanding of the materials – where they come from and how different kinds of materials can be used in making high quality contemporary art.
The interest in papermaking and ecological thinking has been increasing among artists. Helsingin Paperipaja’s Kuitulaboratorio wants to seize this moment and offer a space for creative thinking. With the project we want to study the new meanings of paper and new ways to use it in this world of digitalization – also by using alternative methods to process the materials. The project consists of exhibitions, specialist projects, a project for developing the association and the online archive.
